Today ‘N’ Tomorrow Learning Society (TNTLS) has appointed Rebecca Kleinman as child care manager for both Teddies ‘N’ Toddlers Child Care Centre and Little Friends Early Learning Centre.
Kleinman will be responsible for managing daily operations to ensure the children in both centres are supported in their early learning and development, as well as assuring quality care for community families and our young Comox Valley parents committed to completing their high school education.
She will report directly to TNTLS executive director, Natalie Robinson.
“We had been actively searching for over a year to find someone with both a passion for children and a desire for leadership,” said TNTLS chair, Jenny Deters. “Since former manager, Cary Keighley’s initial plans for retirement last fall 2017 and then her announcement of retirement this summer, the society had been seeking a great candidate who could fill Keighley’s shoes. She had left a 25-year legacy of commitment to our organization that is not easily matched. The Society really would not be what it is today if it weren’t for Cary’s contribution and commitment. We will be forever grateful to her. And while we are sad to see Cary leave us, we are also very excited for her and wish her a magnificent retirement.”
Perseverance is essential as these are exciting times ahead for the society. With its new vision for caring for families and meeting the needs of the community, including plans to build a new facility, Kleinman is a welcome addition to help TNTLS through its future transitions and growth.
“TNTLS is very fortunate to have found someone as dedicated about early childhood education as Rebecca,” said Robinson. “Rebecca’s commitment to her field, her wealth of knowledge in early learning and administrative experience, will serve her well in this Manager position. Members of the Board are confident that we’ve found in Rebecca a positive leader who will strive to continue TNTLS’s tradition of quality care in our child care programs.”
Rebecca’s experience encompasses 18 years in caring for children and 11 years teaching early childhood education in a childcare setting. Her most recent position as administrative assistant and head teacher at mountain minis childcare in Whistler for the past four years has prepared her for this new role. Since completing a diploma in early childhood education in 2010, she has been constantly advancing her knowledge in the field through hands-on work in the classroom and professional development.
“I am honoured to have been selected for this role and excited about working with the children, teachers, and young parents in this new capacity,” said Kleinman. ” I plan to build on the success of TNTLS by providing strong guidance and direction to Today ‘N’ Tomorrow’s dedicated teachers, as well as help renew and inspire their passion for the early years. And, as manager, I will be seeking ways to expand the program’s valuable resources to strengthen its support for all of our community families.”
The TNTLS Board invites the community to meet Kleinman at its upcoming annual general meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 4830B Headquarters Road in Courtenay. Society staff and members, our parents and their families, and newly elected board members will be there. Doors open at 5 p.m.
