Melissa Boyes is the new manager of the South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce.
When looking for a community to move to when her husband, Frank, retired, Boyes says the natural choice was the Cariboo and the 100 Mile House area.
“We love the community spirit, our friendly neighbours, the distinct seasons, and being able to see stars at night.”
Boyes was born and raised in a small farming community of Choisy, Quebec before moving to Montreal where she worked in the public-relations department of the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
Wanderlust brought her to the West Coast where she settled in Vancouver for many years, working as a front-end web developer, and more recently, at an advertising agency.
Outside of her manager duties, Boyes says she enjoys spending time with her horses, dogs and cats. She also enjoys technology, social media, gardening and equine photography.
Boyes says she is happy to be joining a team of committed residents focused on supporting and enhancing a sustainable local economy.
“In the role of chamber manager, I am looking forward to helping build relationships, raise awareness, and promote growth and sustained success for businesses throughout the South Cariboo.”
People are invited to stop in and have coffee with her at the chamber office, or contact her at 250-395-6124, or e-mail manager@southcariboochamber.org.
