The skid row to CEO speaker Joe Roberts will wrap up the Mission Community Leadership series this Saturday at the Best Western.
Managing change is the workshop focus, and Roberts is an inspirational example of overcoming adversity. Turning his life around from drug addiction, homelessness and poverty, he is now an outstanding college graduate, successful CEO and sought-after motivational speaker.
He has been recognized by MacLean’s Magazine as one of “10 Canadians who have made a difference” and won the BC Courage to Comeback Award among numerous other accolades.
Roberts continues to lead by example. His next challenge is The Push for Change (www.pushforchange.com). He is building a team to push a shopping cart across Canada as a symbol of courage and possibility for troubled and homeless youth in Canada.
The morning of the final session in the community leadership series kicks off with facilitator Cathryn LeCorre leading a workshop, “Transformation in Change: Fostering Accountability in Times of Change.” It is designed to shift the participant’s perspective of change and to see new possibilities for leadership in the community.
LeCorre has been an internal people development consultant at Fraser Health since 2007, and counts the District of Mission, University and United Nations as other clients.
The managing change session runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and Roberts takes the stage at 11 a.m.
Space is still available, and admission is $20. For more information contact Building Community Leadership chair Michelle Favero at manager@missionchamber.bc.ca.
