Small Shop Saturday returns to downtown Kelowna

More than 100 businesses will offer special sales and product demonstrations on Saturday.

Small Shop Saturday returns to downtown Kelowna this Saturday.

The Downtown Kelowna Association recognizes that small businesses play a vital role in Kelowna’s local economy, not to mention provide jobs and preserve the downtown neighbourhood.

A recent story in the Vancouver Province newspaper illustrated the following statistics:

• There are 84.2 small businesses per 1,000 people in BC, the highest rate in the country.

• Small businesses account for 98% of all businesses in BC

• Small businesses employ 56% of BC’s private sector workforce

• Small businesses represent one-third of BC’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)

This Saturday, more than 100 participating businesses downtown Kelowna are offering a special sale, demonstration or discount during Small Shop Saturday to help promote themselves and encourage customers to shop within their store.

As an added bonus the DKA has worked with the city to provide free parking at all street level, city owned parking lots and parkades.
