Something new is brewing at the South Okanagan Events Centre to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
A limited release beer, Power Chord Pilsner, created by Cannery Brewing will debut this Saturday (Sept. 29) for the Penticton Vees home opener.
“We are extremely excited to launch this feature product in partnership with Cannery Brewing. They have been a strong corporate partner at the SOEC since we opened our doors in 2008 and they immediately understood the vision we had for the creation of this celebration beer. The brewing team at Cannery Brewing created a very special craft pilsner that celebrates a very special milestone for the community gathering place that the SOEC has grown to become in Penticton,” said Dean Clark, SOEC general manager and regional vice-president for Spectra Venue Management, in a news release.
The label was illustrated by Penticton artist Skyler Punnett and was designed to capture the energy and excitement of attending a live concert.

“We are delighted to join with the SOEC and the community in celebrating such an important milestone with the creation of this new beer. The Power Chord Pilsner is a light bodied craft pilsner with a crisp, clean finish. It’s a delicious limited release beer that our team hand-crafted to enjoy while cheering on the Penticton Vees and while singing along with the amazing performers at the SOEC,” said Patt Dyck, co-owner of Cannery Brewing.
A portion of all proceeds from the sale of Power Chord Pilsner will be donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association South Okanagan Similkameen branch to help raise funds for local mental health services and support programs.

“We are delighted to be part of this 10-year anniversary celebration and thank the South Okanagan Events Centre and Cannery Brewing for their support,” said Leah Schulting, executive director at CMHA SOS. “Fundraising programs such as this really help us to make a difference in so many lives across the South Okanagan Similkameen. The funds raised will benefit individuals in our community by supporting essential mental health programs. Programs that change lives. Programs that save lives.”
The Power Chord Pilsner will be available at all upcoming Penticton Vees home games as well as all concert and events at the SOEC, while supplies last. In addition, the Power Chord Pilsner will be available at Cannery Brewing, on tap and in six-pack cans.
