The latest updates on TransLink service for the Semiahmoo Peninsula will be provided in a special webinar scheduled for next week by the South Surrey and White Rock Chamber of Commerce.
Chamber executive director Ritu Khanna said the online webinar, set for 10 a.m on Tuesday, April 6, was orginally planned as an initiative of the White Rock BIA, as aninteractive presentation on how TransLink is working to help keep transit safe for travellers during the COVID pandemic.
But Khanna said the Chamber, with agreement from BIA director Alex Nixon, felt the scope should be opened up to allow questions on all concerns with regard to TransLink service to the Peninsula.
“Public transit service, we feel, needs to be improved,” she said. “We have a growing and diverse community that relies on different forms of transport as not everyone has, or can operate a car.
“Businesses, especially, rely on people coming from different parts of Surrey.”
While an area such as Campbell Heights in South Surrey is an important residential and business hub, “it has poor public transit,” she noted
“Businesses there have a hard time finding and retaining employees, because they can’t get there.”
All are welcome to join the webinar, Khanna said, and by pre-registering, participants have an opportunity to submit questions in advance about anything related to TransLink service that impacts businesses and residents in White Rock and South Surrey.
A bonus prize draw will also be held for all attending guests.
