A new stop to relax and enjoy the view and some delicious food has opened on Station Hill in Spillimacheen. On May 28, The Spilli Bean held its grand opening, and all were invited to come inside and enjoy a nice day of freshly-made goods and coffee.

The Spilli Bean opened April 15 and is a part of Station Hill Enterprises, along with Spilli Station Dining restaurant.

The new café is owned by four partners: Donna Ford, Shirley Griese, Nola Alt and Sharon Jamieson.

The creation of The Spilli Bean was born from the four ladies coming together.

Sisters Griese and Jamieson had always wanted to work together, and though Griese was retired, she was not yet ready to give up on work.

Alt and her husband Dennis, long-time Spillimacheen residents, had owned and operated the Spilli Station Café for several years. Ford, according to Griese, is a business woman.

“The four of us came together as a team,” said Griese.

Between The Spilli Bean and Spilli Station Dining, the four partners’ vision is to make Station Hill a venue that acts as a community hub for locals and visitors.

“There’s potentional growth for us here,” said Griese. “Upstairs there is an attic we would like to use to expand and have artisan venues, and we’d like to host a farmers’ market as well.”

Customer comments had been good throughout the grand-opening day, according to Griese, with many guests “pleasantly surprised”.

“What we offer is great, specialty coffee, super goodies, a great view, great food and a comfortable building and environment,” said Griese. “We want it to be a comfortable spot for people to visit when they’re travelling between Radium and Golden.”

The Spilli Bean and Spilli Station Dining also have a website that, while currently under construction, is available for interested individuals to check their special weekend menus.
