Spotlight on Ladysmith attractions

Ladysmith and area is hosting a “Be A Hometown Tourist Weekend”, June 4 & 5.

The event offers an opportunity for residents and visitors to discover the Central Vancouver Island communities of Ladysmith, Cassidy, Cedar, South Nanaimo, Saltair, Chemainus and Cowichan Valley.

The event brings together attractions, activities, shops and services all offering specials during that weekend.

Some of the activities planned are harbour boat tours, historic downtown walks, hikes along the Holland Creek Trail with a naturalist, and two for one specials kayaking, golfing, and bungy zone. As well you can tour local B & B’s. On June 5, the Ladysmith and Area Accommodations Association will be hosting an open house from noon to 4 p.m. as part of the “Be a Hometown Tourist” campaign.

Join them for goodies and a look at some amazing places.

Details of the tour and the accommodations are available at www.ladysmith-bc-accommodations.com.

Cindy Damphousse who spearheaded the campaign said she is excited by the response. “We often miss the treasures that are right in our backyard. This is a way for us to remember what an amazing place we live in.”

Damphousse said that the campaign was modeled after other programs that have been successful in many communities. “Amazing things happen in small places,” she says.
