Stantec has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
Now entering its sixth year, the competition recognizes employers across Canada that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusiveness programs.
Headquartered in Edmonton, Stantec’s Abbotsford office has 33 employees.
“To be named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers is a tremendous honour,” said Tino DiManno, Stantec’s Senior Vice President for Canada West. “It is a testament to the fact that we are successfully maximizing our employees’ potential by valuing their differences while also fostering inclusiveness. This also ensures we have the breadth of viewpoints and skills needed to succeed across our global environment.”
For this national competition, the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers analyzed companies for their range of diversity initiatives covering five major employee groups: Women; Members of visible minorities; Persons with disabilities; Aboriginal peoples; and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered/Transsexual (LGBT) peoples.
Stantec was singled out for several initiatives, including the appointment of a Director of Diversity and Inclusion to promote awareness and manage program and policy development. In 2008, the company established an employment equity committee to assess formal policies and identify employment barriers for designated groups.
