Management of Staples has confirmed what has been widely rumoured up to now.
Kelly Huff, vice-president of real estate and construction for Staples Canada, told the Observer in an email April 20:
“Staples Canada is thrilled to be including Salmon Arm to our family. We are looking to employ up to 30 employees for this location, with a possible grand opening date of June 2012. We understand those who live in the community have already started to hear wind of our news, and we hope to give everyone in the Salmon Arm area the type of valuable service we aim to provide throughout the whole country.”
Lance Johnson, manager of Centenoka Park Mall, confirms the mall has been in discussions with Staples. He said he isn’t at liberty to talk about any particular store, but he said there’ll be more than one announcement in the near future.
“I think it’s fair to say there’ll be lots of announcements coming around June.”
He did say the mall has signed a beautification agreement with the City of Salmon Arm, and will be installing new sidewalks, landscaping and street lights, and putting power underground from Blockbusters down to the indoor arena. Construction will start Aug. 1, Johnson said.
