Something sweet is going on at Concord Pacific’s Surrey Presentation Centre in North Surrey.
Surrey elementary school students have crafted an array of gingerbread houses, and on Dec. 6, Surrey Mayor Linda Hepner kicked off the voting for the favourite gingerbread building. Hepner cast the first ballot and many others followed suit, including Faizel Rawji, principal of Senator Reid Elementary School.
Each participating school was assigned a different Surrey City Centre landmark and students designed, interpreted and built their own gingerbread house for the competition.
The public can vote on their favourite creation until Dec. 19 at Concord Pacific’s Presentation Centre, 9908 King George Blvd.
An award of $2,000 will be given to the school with the most votes. The results will be announced during a holiday musical festival on Dec. 20 at the centre.
