Summer jobs program accepting applications

The government-funded program helps employers create summer jobs for full-time students

Small businesses and organizations wanting to hire summer students this year have until Feb. 3, to submit their applications for support from the Canada Summer Jobs program.

The government-funded program helps employers create summer jobs for full-time students aged 15-30, while strengthening local economies and communities across Canada.

Canada Summer Jobs provides funding for not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

Not-for-profit employers can receive up to 100 per cent of the provincial minimum hourly wage, as well as employment-related costs, while public-sector employers and small businesses can receive up to 50 per cent.

Canada Summer Jobs applications are available at the Service Canada Centre, 1401 Douglas St. in Victoria or online.

Employers can complete and submit applications online, by mail or in person. Applications are due by Feb. 3. For more information, please phone 1-800-935-5555.
