Surrey named top investment city

Surrey is one of five cities named as the best real estate investments in Canada.

Online publication businessreview.ca named Surrey, along with Barrie, Ont., Red Deer, Alberta, Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows as some of the best opportunities for real estate investment in the country.

The report, which indicated it chose to look forward rather than back to determine investment possibilities, used factors such as market stability, housing prices and future growth potential.

“With its cultural diversity and international flavor, Surrey is an emerging metropolis with a dynamic local economy,” the publication states. “With over 6,000 acres of parkland and green spaces, and an array of bike lanes and trails sprinkled throughout the city, Surrey offers residents an arrestingly beautiful landscape with all of the amenities of a bustling city.”

It also notes the benefits of two border crossings with the U.S. and $15 billion a year in trade, making the area a good business location.

“As business opportunities in Surrey increase, and the population continues its steady climb, the city’s tremendous growth looks to continue for many years to come,” it states.

In 2011, Western Investor Magazine named Surrey the best place in Western Canada to invest in real estate, and the Real Estate Investment Network has named Surrey the best place in B.C. to invest, and also ranked the city fourth on the list of top Canadian investment cities.
