The Target store at Scottsdale Centre, in North Delta, is among the first to be opened in B.C. by Target Canada as it unofficially opens its doors today – Tuesday, May 7.
The 114,000-sq.-ft. space on Scott Road at 70 Avenue has been renovated to replace Zellers, which served the community for many years. A grand opening is planned for later this month.
“The opening of this new Target store in North Delta will add a brand-new shopping experience to Scottsdale Centre, and the Scott Road Corridor,” said Peter Road, executive director of the Delta Chamber of Commerce. “We hope this new store will attract even more business to our community.”
Scottsdale Centre, which is a member of the Delta Chamber of Commerce, has been one of the key community shopping destinations serving Delta and its neighbouring communities since its opening in 1970.
Roaf noted that the 190,000 shoppers within five kilometres of Scottsdale Centre have an average annual household income of $85,000. More than 80,000 vehicles pass Scottsdale Centre on a daily basis.
“We invite our member businesses and others to look at business-to-business opportunities with Target and we encourage businesses and shoppers alike to buy local and ‘put your money where your house is’ in support of local merchants, including Target,” Roaf said. “There’s lots of opportunity there.”
