Phase one of a project to erect modern townhomes on the old Shangri-La Restaurant site in Qualicum Beach is complete.
A ceremony on the weekend had Qualicum Beach Mayor Teunis Wesbroek cutting the ribbon and welcoming Taylor Ridge Oceanview Townhomes to town.
“It is part of the complete housing-mix council and the town would like to see built in Qualicum Beach,” said Westbroek.
The four townhomes, between 167 and 204 square metres each, have ocean views, kitchen islands, maple shaker style cabinets, granite kitchen counter tops and natural gas fireplaces, among other features.
Gail Tranberg, with the project’s development company Colliver Holdings, said it’s exciting to see the development reach this stage, following tough economic times throughout the area.
“It’s the first development that Qualicum has had complete since the big global crash,” she said, “so it’s kind of exciting for Qualicum Beach.”
Teunis said it was also great to work with the developers to enhance the trial system in town, a portion of which lies at the top of the property, helping to connect the west end of town with the centre of town.
The completed project will see four more townhomes at the site.
