A degree of labour uncertainty returned to port operations on the North Coast as members of the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference rejected a tentative deal with CN.
The tentative agreement had been reached back in October, but on Jan. 31 the union advised CN the deal failed to be ratified.
Jim Vena, CN executive vice-president and chief operating officer, said the company was surprised the “progressive agreement” was voted down.
“We have agreed to meet with the TCRC-CTY leaders next week to review the ratification results and discuss solutions on how we move forward from here,” he said.
