Telus has won the Canadian Health Informatics Award (CHIA) for Corporate Citizenship.
The award, presented at the CHIA annual gala in Toronto, recognized the telecommunications company for a decade of work in health informatics. Kids’ Health Link Foundation (KHLF) nominated Telus for the award.
Telus Health has more than 1,400 team members and has invested more than $1 billion in the sector over the last five years.
“Telus is a firm believer in engaging consumers directly in the health care system which then drives the enablement of pan-Canadian health system improvements and outcomes, within the hospital, community and at home,” said Paul Lepage, president, Telus Health.
Telus investments in health care include Upopolis, launched in eight hospitals across the country. Created by KHLF and powered by Telus, upopolis.com is the only private, secure online social network designed just for kids in hospital.

Nominations for the Corporate Citizenship Award are based on visible leadership, participation in associations and institutions, sharing experience and contribution to knowledge development and measurable level of support provided to the industry.
