CLOSE TO 2,500 people attended the Terrace and District Chamber of Commerce’s annual Business Expo held April 21-22 at the Terrace sportsplex.
Chamber of commerce manager Michelle Taylor said she was pleased with the booth presentations this year and with the number of people who turned out to see what the business community and community organizations had to offer those who attended.
“I think everything went well. From what I’ve heard from people, the show had a fresh look to it,” she said.
As in past years, a team of judges scouted out the displays and gave placings for the booths in five categories.
The best overall booth, chosen for a business or organization which displayed creativity and professionalism went to Daybreak Farms. The Kitsumkalum Economic Development Corporation was second.
The best commercial booth went to the Kitsumkalum Economic Development Corporation with a tie for the runner awarded to Seabridge Gold and 101 Industries.
Willow Creek Daycare was chosen to have the best educational booth while St. John Ambulance was the runner-up.
Daybreak Farms, in addition to its best overall win, was chosen to have the best retail booth. There was a tie for the runner-up spot, going to Silvertip Promotions and Fiori Design.
Kermodei Tourism was judged to have had the best service booth while Heritage Park Museum was the runner-up.
Students from the Northwest Community College’s culinary arts program were on hand the morning of April 22 to distribute smoked salmon on homemade crackers, something that was much appreciated, said Taylor.
And she also had praise for the cadets from the local 747 Air Cadet Squadron who kept things clean and tidy and who also helped with taking down booths.
The door prize winner of two travel tickets from Central Mountain Air was Lyle McNish.
