Starbucks is the latest business to announce it’s hiring staff for its new outlet in Brick Yard Station, a shopping plaza soon to be opening up in Cloverdale.

The popular coffee chain is opening a location there later this month, making it one of the first businesses to open its doors at the long-anticipated Anthem Properties Ltd. development, located at the northeast corner of Highway 10 and the 176 Bypass.

Last Thursday, Janet Howell said the management team for the new Cloverdale Starbucks is already in place, but added she needed to hire seven more people, bringing the number of employees to 12 to 14.

The opening is planned for May 31, with a  a special friends and family night planned for May 30.

Major tenants at Brick Yard Station include Staples, Rexall’s, CIBC, Original Joe’s Restaurant, Clancy’s Meat Co., and Vera’s Burgers.

Last month, Staples hosted a three-day job fair to hire new staff for its location at Brick Yard Station. Other confirmed tenants include Quiznos, an insurance company and dentist, Into Chocolates, and Chronic Tacos.

The mall has been designed in keeping with Cloverdale’s heritage rail theme. Historic black and white photographs have been enlarged and mounted on the sides of some buildings.

Construction will be completed this spring, with a grand opening this summer.

Starbucks has several other locations nearby: Cloverdale Crossing  at 176 and 64 Avenue and at Clayton Crossing at 18737 Fraser Highway, and at 17967 56 Avenue (Highway 10.)
