A restoration company in Aldergrove is doing its part to help raise the roof for the homeless.
The Paul Davis Fraser Valley team will be distributing toques and mitts until Tuesday, Feb. 7 to clients and vendors.
This is all in support of the Raising the Roof campaign and local charity, Cyrus Centre Services for Youth and Families.
With an office at Unit B140-5525 272 St., Paul Davis serves customers with emergency services, restoration, repairs, and reconstruction. Its staff is trained and certified in home and office damage from fire, smoke, flooding, mould, ice dams, wind, storms, vandalism, and more.
Paul Davis is working in concert with Raising the Roof and its annual Toque Campaign as thousands of volunteers and supporters provide long-term solutions to homelessness in Canada.
Throughout Canada since 1997, the annual Toque Campaign has raised more than $7 million for roughly 180 community agencies across Canada. Each year on and around Toque Tuesday, Raising the Roof coordinates nationwide efforts among businesses and partnered non-profits that work with the homeless.
The Paul Davis team has purchased the toques and mitts and are bringing awareness to the Cyrus Centre.
The local company is also working with the non-profit to identify and work on priorities to assist youth throughout the year. Cyrus Centre locations include 2616 Ware St. in Abbotsford and 45845 Wellington Ave. in Chilliwack. For more information, click here.
The Cyrus Centre is a charitable organization dedicated to helping vulnerable and homeless youth with programs, services and shelter, and to help guide and equip young people for success and a better quality of life. Youth in Fraser Valley and Fraser Canyon often face homelessness each day and night.
Specifically, nationally, one in five homeless persons is a youth, and locally, numbers have been higher due to issues like fleeing abuse to poverty to exploitation and drugs, among others.
