Traffic control shift will speed up Malahat arrival times

Sidney-based company moves to Langford after buyout by Mainroad

In roadway emergencies, traffic control will now arrive on scene sooner around the West Shore and on the Malahat.

Saanich Peninsula Rentals, now under the umbrella of the Mainroad Group in Surrey, has been re-branded as SPR Traffic Services and moved its offices from Sidney to Langford.

“We can now get up the Malahat with a quicker response time,” said Darren Ell, SPR general manager.

Langford provides a more central location for emergency responses around the West Shore and areas around Victoria, he added.

The company provided traffic control serves after recent rock slides on the Malahat Drive, as well as car crashes in the area.

“We used to rent out small tools, but now we are just going to focus on traffic control,” Ell said.
