Trio of awards for Langley’s Britco

Langley company honoured with three awards from Modular Building Institute

Britco has received three international awards at the Modular Building Institute.

The Langley-based company was honoured at the awards ceremony in San Antonio, Texas on March 24.

“These international awards are important achievements for Britco and reflect the hard work and dedication of the very talented design and construction teams we have at Britco,” said Mike Ridley, Britco’s president.

The Thunderbird Soaring logo was awarded best marketing piece in the industry in North America, the Atlantic Power Office was awarded the best permanent office under 10,000 square feet in North America, and the Terminal Systems Building won the best permanent office over 5,000 square feet in North America.

The winning design for the logo was submitted by Andrew Dexel from the Nlakapmux Nation of the Interior Salish in southcentral British Columbia.

The design depicts direction, determination and a focus on the future, which are all values consistent with Britco’s business.

The Atlantic Power Office earned its award in part of its ability to maximize office space on limited available land with minimal impact on the environment.

The site included challenges such as logging road access, overhead power line and a crane lift requiring custom engineering.

The Terminal Services Building is a two-storey administration building which was designed to meet high compliance standards for multiple uses on a a very compact site in an industrial environment at Port Metro Vancouver’s marine container terminal.

The MBI is the trade association representing companies in Canada, the United States and 14 other countries involved in the construction and distribution of commercial modular buildings.

Entries were judged on architectural excellence, technical innovation and sustainability, cost effectiveness, energy efficiency and calendar days to complete.
