Thousands of unsuspecting customers were simultaneously greeted with a surprise while banking with TD last week.
At 11 a.m.on Friday, July 25, more than 20,000 TD employees across Canada distributed green envelopes containing a $20 bill to every customer in more than 1,100 TD branches and revealed to those using TD phone and online banking service that they would receive a deposit directly into their accounts.
“It was incredible to see the look of surprise on our customers’ faces,” said Bhupinder Grewal, a branch manager with TD Canada Trust at Rodeo Square in Surrey. “We say thank you to our customers every day, and we’ll say thank you tomorrow and the next day. Today’s thank you is about all of us at TD working together to make it extra special.”
Mauro Manzi, TD senior vice-president of the Pacific Region, believes a “thank you” can change someone’s day.
“We know British Columbians have a lot of choice when it comes to where they bank, and we wanted to say that we appreciate that they continue to choose TD,” Manzi said.

“Oh my goodness, never in all my life have I had such a beautiful surprise,” said Patricia Purcell, a TD customer, who received a bouquet of flowers from her local TD branch.
