A new clothing store has opened on 7th Avenue in Invermere, just beside Mei Mei’s.
her Public, which officially launched July 1, will have its doors open to the public all summer long with unique clothing lines and great prices.
For owner and operator Sharma Yawrenko the location may be new, but the business experience not so much. She already owns a second store in Golden, called Plain Wayne & Jane Boutique.
“I wanted to open another when I moved here, where I live on and off,” explained Yawrenko.
Banff was also an option for the new shop, but the Columbia Valley and Invermere area was more to Yawrenko’s tastes, having grown up in Kelowna.
Yawrenko describes her Public as “urban.”
Clothing is trendy but also unique for those shoppers looking for something a bit “different.”
On top of clothes such as shirts, tank tops, jeans, leggings and more, her Public also sells shoes, jewelry, bags and currently has a sunglasses wall with a summer deal.
“It’s trendy and affordable, prices are local-friendly,” explains Yawrenko. “There’s not really too much over $50. We have cheap-priced sunglasses, dresses and more.”
Yawrenko adds that there is also more stock to come, as the Canada Day long weekend and recent mail strike put some of her product receivables on hold.
“I hope people walk in and out with a good feeling of the shop,” said Yawrenko. “Hopefully they’ll feel positive, and if it doesn’t suit them maybe they can pass the name along to someone they know who might.”
