A Spallumcheen firm left its mark on the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society.
Auctioneers Don and Peter Raffan of Valley Auction Ltd. conducted a very successful horse sale for the society at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley Sept. 11.
A total of 140 thoroughbred horses went through the ring and, with the Raffans conducting business, the gross sale of the horses was $1,341,100.
The sale average was $15,965, up 24 per cent from 2011.
The top-selling horse was a colt that sold for $118,000, one of two horses that sold for more than $100,000 (the other went for $111,000).
Top-selling regional horse was a colt out of Salmon Arm that sold for $75,000.
