More than 20 per cent of Greater Victoria businesses expect to hire more workers over the next three months, according to the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.
The bad news? Seven per cent anticipate cutbacks.
“A modest hiring climate is projected for the second quarter of 2014, with new business growth at its weakest in five months,” said Byrne Luft, vice-president of operations for Manpower Canada.
“There are some bright spots amidst the slow growth, with employers in the construction, transportation and public utilities industry sectors expecting the strongest gains.”
