The public ate cake and sipped champagne today, as they stood in the David Foster Foundation Theatre and watched a slideshow of photos old and new put together for the 90+5 Celebration.
Oak Bay Beach Hotel hosted the community open house today (Dec. 1) from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the new hotel and the 90 anniversary of the hotel first opening on Beach Drive.
“We love our local community and want to celebrate Oak Bay’s great tradition together. Our double anniversary is the perfect moment to invite the community in to check out our amenities and meet our team,” said General Manager Michelle Le Sage.

The public had a chance to meet the whole team, having coffee and pastries with Pastry Chef Teddy Gapaloo in Kate’s Cafe, taking a tour of the hotel’s art collection with Winchester Gallery Gallerist Elizabeth Levinson, having a taste of the new winter menu and local Hoyne craft beer with Food and Beverage Manager Christian Sealey, and enjoying the anniversary cake with General Manager, Michelle Le Sage. There was also wine tasting by Kettle Valley Winery and tours of the Boathouse Spa & Baths.
“Tonight we are topping it off with a little bit of a VIP party and some celebration going on right into the evening,” said Le Sage.
The hotel’s plush mascot, Ollie Bear, could be purchased as a keepsake. The special edition anniversary Ollie Bear was available for sale with 100 per cent of the net proceeds from sales on Dec. 1, going towards the David Foster Foundation.
