Lake Country’s Wood Lake Publishing will receive $44,007 from the Canada Book Fund.
Kelowna–Lake Country MP Ron Cannan made the announcement on behalf of Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.
The funding will help Wood Lake Publishing produce and promote Canadian-authored books for all ages tailored to Canada’s religious and spiritual culture.
“I am pleased to see the Government of Canada’s support for Wood Lake Publishing, a valued organization in our community that has provided us with more than 200 Canadian literary treasures in three decades of publishing,” said Cannan.
Through the $39.1 million Canada Book Fund, Canadian Heritage provides support to approximately 300 Canadian book publishers and industry organizations every year. The fund’s main objective is to ensure access to a diverse range of Canadian-authored books, both in Canada and abroad.
Wood Lake Publishing has more than 200 titles to its credit in more than 30 years of operation. Their publications cover topics including Christianity and biblical studies, children’s books, ecology, ethics, wellness, parenting and leadership.
“The funding we receive has continued to make it possible for Wood Lake to publish the work of new and established Canadian authors, illustrators and editors, and to make those works available throughout Canada and much of the world,” said Patricia Berube, company president.
“Canada has much talent, and with the help of Canadian Heritage, we are able to do what we can to support and showcase some of these talented Canadians.”
