An economic development and investment readiness workshop for local government and First Nations officials was held in Chilliwack on Feb. 14.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training, the full-day event was part of a series of workshops that have been tailor-made to provide participants with training and tips specific to their community needs.
The workshops have been designed for elected local government and First Nation officials and their staff. They will provide training related to a full range of economic development activities, including attracting investment and supporting new and existing ventures.
The workshops will be facilitated by the Economic Development Association of British Columbia.
A first workshop for Cariboo regional leaders will be held in the Valley Room in 100 Mile House on March 18. It is a by-invitation-only event.
The workshops are part of an Enhanced Community Economic Support Initiative, which also includes an online suite of resources and tools that will be available this spring to assist communities in attracting business and investment.
