Youth worker added to Surrey organization

SOS Children's Villages BC focuses on youth transition program

Surrey-based organization SOS Children’s Villages BC has added a youth worker to its team.

Shayne Forster will focus on the Transition to Adulthood program, which supports youth that are reaching the age of majority and entering adulthood.

“Vulnerable youth, especially those that move from home to home in the foster-care system, are extremely ill prepared for the transition to independence,” the press release states.

Forster will be facilitating a youth advisory council to ensure that the program is driven in the direction that the youth serviced desire it to.

At-risk youth can refer themselves to the program, or can be referred by social workers or other professionals.
