The sun was gleaming in Nanoose Saturday afternoon as Teddy Bears and their families caught a ride on various vehicles and floats to Jack Bagley Field.
It was the 22nd annual Quality Foods Teddy Bear Picnic and Nanoose Days, which kicked off with a parade at 10:30 a.m. and a picnic and field full of fun to follow.
With Teddy bear’s clutched under their arms, children made their way to the grassy field filled with stations specifically for their fuzzy friends, like the Teddy Bear Clinic, Bear-a-Chute ride and Teddy Tattoo Parlour.
There was also bouncy castles, wagons rides, a dunk tank, colouring stations, bubbles, and a performance from Island Farm’s Daisy the Cow and Farmer Vicki.
Twenty corporate mascots including Toys R Us’ Geoffrey the Giraffe, Tony the Tiger and Smokey the Bear wandered around the field shaking hands with kids and giving high fives, while the younger ones shielded their eyes from the towering stuffies.
Information and interactive displays were also set up like the RDN’s Team WaterSmart, Shaw Power Smart and the Canadian Forces Maritime Experimental and Test Ranges (CFMETR).
