A cappella vocal sensation, Belle Voci, hosts series of Fraser Valley concerts in June

The concerts will run from June 7 to 10, in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Langley, and Aldergrove

Belle Voci, Chilliwack’s unique a cappella vocal ensemble, is set to present their 2018 Sacred Concert Series, a set of four concerts throughout the Fraser Valley from June 7 – 10.

Harmonizing since 2009, Belle Voci is known for its exciting selections of diverse music selections, which have included renaissance polyphony, Greek Orthodox chant, traditional and jazzy interpretations, and modern versions of melodies that have lasted throughout the ages.

In preparation for this season’s concert series, Belle Voci has carefully selected each of the four venues with the audience in mind: each location has its own charm and acoustics that lend to one’s ability to fully enjoy Belle Voci’s sound.

The Sacred Concert Series kicks off on Thursday, June 7, in Abbotsford, when Belle Voci will delight audiences inside St. Ann, a beautiful church built more than a half century ago.

Coming home, the second concert will take place Chilliwack’s St. Thomas Anglican Church on Friday, June 8. A staple of downtown Chilliwack for almost 150 years, St. Thomas’s was designed to resemble Noah’s Ark turned upside down and features gorgeous beams, woodwork and vivid stained glass windows that will lend an enchanting atmosphere to the performance.

Then, on Saturday, June 9, the voices of Belle Voci will soar and rise to great heights in the massive stone church of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Langley. This church was built in 2000, seats close to 700 people, and has recently played host to the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra & Chorus.

Completing the concert series, Belle Voci will return to a familiar venue, Sts. Joachim and Ann Catholic Church in Aldergrove, which is known for its impressive acoustics.

Tickets to the first three concerts of the series are $20, however, the final concert’s admission will be by donation at the door.

“We love giving back to our community and this is why we like to do one concert by donation,” said Paula DeWit, founder of the ensemble. “We want to fill all the churches. This music is an enduring sacred heritage that we wish to keep alive.

“Come to experience the lovely churches but stay for the amazing music,” DeWit added.
