The 100 Mile Performing Arts Society is thinking about the future, as its members rehearse and prepare for their spring production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
The show runs Feb. 23-25 and March 1-3 at Martin Exeter Hall.
The theatre group relies on local talent, interest and support to function and produce their annual musical, and while the pool they draw from has been sufficient over the years, there is a constant need to replenish it.
Forum director Marie Hooper says she’s sure there are many more talented people in the community who would enjoy being involved with different aspects of theatre and she would like to see them step up to the plate.
“We’ve had people doing key jobs for several years and we need other people in the wings who will help perpetuate the society. We need people in all areas.
“It’s the community’s performing arts society and nobody goes on forever. We have to continue to fill spaces as people leave.”
The range of areas where people are needed each year includes acting, producing, directing, working with lights or sound equipment, making costumes, designing and building sets and many more.
In an effort to shake the bushes, the society is inviting people to drop in on rehearsals to see how much fun it is and consider getting involved next year.
Rehearsals take place at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church on Horse Lake Road each Monday and Thursday from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and Saturday afternoons from 1 to 5 p.m.
On Feb. 6, rehearsals will move to Martin Exeter Hall and will take place Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
