They were here for a good time, not a long time, but it didn’t matter as seminal Canadian band Trooper set off some fireworks of their own at the A&W Funtastic Music Festival on the Canada Day weekend.
Led by lead singer Ra McGuire, with guitarist Brian (Smitty) Smith, Gogo on keyboards, Scott Brown on bass and Clayton Hill on drums, the band played to an enthusiastic crowd during the last night of the Funtastic slo-pitch tournament and A&W music festival at the Vernon DND fields.
Trooper’s appearance at Funtastic came on the heels of Darby Mills and the Headpins, and Kenny Shields and Streetheart, who kicked off the the weekend, followed by Saturday’s headlining appearance by Lou Gramm.
The former Foreigner lead singer warmed up the crowd after a rainy Saturday with hit songs such as Double Vision, Midnight Blue, Jukebox Hero, Urgent, topping it all off with an encore that included Hot Blooded.
All in all, Funtastic lived up to its name, rain be damned.
