The local arts community has one more place to get its creative fill.
The Abbotsford Art Gallery is hosting a grand opening this Saturday, which will feature door prizes, refreshments and a chance to speak with local artists.
The new studio will showcase works by residents of Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley.
Hong Zhu, gallery owner and local artist, wanted to fill the void left by last year’s closure of the Charisma Gallery, where she worked for many years.
The Abbotsford Art Gallery’s first exhibit will feature the works of Zhu, which range from watercolour to acrylic, done on canvas and plastic glass.
Her work combines contemporary Western style with traditional Asian subject matter.
Brian Croft, a Langley artist, will also have his works on display.
His paintings represent a realistic style of historic images, including Granville Street in 1962.
The grand opening takes place on Saturday, April 16 from 1-5 p.m. at unit 2, 33286 South Fraser Way.
