Abbotsford comic to perform at Montreal festival

Stand-up comic Leland Klassen hosts a free show in Abbotsford on Thursday, July 17 as a warmup for appearing at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal this summer.

The Abbotsford show starts at 7 p.m. at the House of James, 2743 Emerson St.

Klassen, who moved from Saskatchewan to Abbotsford 13 years ago, will appear at the “As Seen on TV” show at the festival’s Comedy Nest on Thursday, July 24 at 10 p.m.

He will also appear at the “Talk of the Fest” show at 10 p.m. on July 25, hosted by Nick Offerman of the Parks and Recreation TV sitcom.

“Talk of the Fest” is being taped for the “Just for Laughs: All Access” television show which will air on the Comedy Network in the fall.

Klassen previously appeared at the Montreal comedy festival in 1991, 2001 and 2004. He will also be featured in a few episodes of the Halifax Comedy Festival TV Show on CBC this fall.

The Just for Laughs Comedy Festival was founded in 1983 and is the largest international comedy festival in the world.

Klassen is known for his “clean” form of comedy and his physicality and high energy.

He lives in Abbotsford with his wife and two kids.
