Abbotsford-born and raised television producer Joel Reimer has announced a new TV series called Into Wild Vancouver, for which he has started a crowdfunding campaign to help produce the show’s pilot.

Reimer said he is appealing to the show’s audience to raise funds before approaching traditional network sponsors.

Reimer left Abbotsford two years ago in pursuit of his career in television production.

He saw a desire by those living in the Greater Vancouver region to know more about the wildlife in their own backyards, and recruited a team of local professionals to make it happen.

Joining Reimer is actor Jenn Kobelt, also an Abbotsford native, who will serve as the pilot’s co-host.

“We want the people of Greater Vancouver to decide whether or not they want to take a trip Into Wild Vancouver,” Reimer said.

“It is our audience that will watch and learn about local wildlife every week. Vancouverites will be the ones taking their kids out to find these animals in real life, the ones who every day walk past our many parks and miss out on the natural beauty hiding right in plain sight.”

The fundraising video for Into Wild Vancouver has been released to the public, with a goal of raising $15,000 for the pilot’s production through the website IndieGoGo.
