Violinist Calvin Dyck and the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra (AYO) will present their tour concert on Saturday, June 18 before leaving for a trip to Washington.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. at Bakerview Church, 2285 Clearbrook Rd. Admission is by donation to help with tour expenses.
The AYO has been invited to visit a Hutterite colony near Spokane and perform a concert at Silverwood Theme Park in Idaho. Besides visiting Washington and Idaho, the orchestra will also tour part of the Okanagan.
At the concert in Abbotsford, the orchestra will perform favourites such as the Ashokan Farewell, Amazing Grace and Air on the G String.
Chris Savage will perform Dance Macabre by Saint Saens, and Madison Taylor will be featured on piano in Land of the Silver Birch Variations by Pierre Gallant.
A highlight of the program will be Spring from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Spring from Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires performed by Dyck accompanied by the orchestra.
