Acoustic Emporium is back in the ‘Wack

After breaking for most of 2018, Acoustic Emporium is back this fall

After an eight-month hiatus, Chilliwack’s Acoustic Emporium (AE) is returning to action.

Started four years ago, the Acoustic Emporium is a registered non-profit folk music society that meets twice monthly at the Vineyard Centre on Wellington.

With the goal of supporting live singer/songwriters and other acoustic-based musical performers, Acoustic Emporium has worked diligently at bringing artists from far and wide to Chilliwack to share their talents with audiences.

“We firmly support singer/songwriters that are local and tour across Canada,” said Tom Paul, who’s the director of the Acoustic Emporium. “And we have had over 100 artists and bands perform at the Acoustic Emporium (since its conception).”

Having taken a break since January, Paul says the Emporium is ready to spring back into action on Sept. 15, and local artists couldn’t be more happy.

“We are booked solid until Sept. 2019, (and) have several headliners lining up to come back,” said Paul.

The Lion, the bear, and the Fox, West My Friend, the Smith Fraser Duo, and Citizen Jane are all coming back to Chilliwack, as AE is a favourite place to play for most who visit its stage.

With a welcoming atmosphere, Paul says the AE venue fits nicely between the small coffee shop or bar venues and larger, theatre-style settings. “We offer a concert hall feel in a coffee house setting.”
