A number of activities are being offered in Abbotsford in celebration of Halloween.
The Abbotsford Mission Recycling Program (33670 Valley Rd.) holds a day of pumpkin decorating on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kids are invited to choose and decorate pumpkins using supplies from the program’s Re-Creation Station. The event is free (limit of one pumpkin per child and a maximum of three kids per adult).
The third annual Fraser Valley Halloween Band Jam takes place Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Community Arts Addition (2329 Crescent Way), featuring live music from some of the best local acts around.
The bands Rocksalt, Sticks & Stones, and Topaz perform from 3 to 6 p.m.
Evening entertainment from 7 p.m. to midnight features the MTs Blues Band, Dusty Boots Band, Out of Many, Stiletto and Alice Hardy.
Matinee tickets are $10, and all-day tickets are $15. They are available at A & D Music, Olde News Vintage and Vinyl, or online at eventbrite.ca.
Families can come to Sevenoaks Shopping Centre (32900 South Fraser Way) on Halloween for trick-or-treating from 3 to 4 p.m. Participating retailers will display an orange pumpkin.
Highstreet shopping centre (at Mt. Lehman Road and Highway 1) presents “The Land of Boo,” including eight Halloween-inspired displays and a “Spot the Cat” contest in the days leading up to Halloween.
Trick-or-treating takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Halloween, when there will also be a photo booth, crafts, a DJ, balloon artists and more.
The Abbotsford Downtown Business Association holds trick-or-treating on Halloween in the historic downtown core from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
The starting point is Big Brothers Big Sisters (2445 West Railway St.), where there will be free face-painting.
