The Vernon Interfaith Bridging Project is staging a reading of an original, new play to be held March 14 at the Powerhouse Theatre.
Entitled We’re Already Home, the play, is a heart-felt comedy about two neighbouring Vernon families – one Muslim, one Christian – and an Okanagan spirit character, who fumble their way in and out of multicultural and religious misunderstandings only to find that they are more alike than they had first imagined.
“There will be minimal movement for the actor on stage, but we are looking for strong readers able to capture the emotional voice of their character,” said playwright Terry Jordan.
“Rehearsals will be approximately two hours, two evenings a week until the performance date.”
Actors/readers are needed to play a variety of roles including: Ali (male, aged 30 to 40); Aisha (female, 30 to 40); Sila (female, 16 to 19); Roy (male, 40 to 50 ); Ruth (female, 40 to 50); Jacob (male, 16 to 19); Violet (female, 30 to 70); and the narrator (male or female).
Auditions will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2:30 p.m. at the Schubert Centre banquet room.
