There’ll be more than the sounds of a jug band at Sturgis North Pub on Dec. 17.
Earthtone Studios also presents the hot Latin sounds of The Boom Booms and City of Sparks.
“These are three bands you don’t want to miss,” says Earthtone Studios owner Jesse Clarke, who brought the band to a sold-out audiences in October. “The Boom Booms took us to the beaches of South America with there smooth Latin reggae beats and positive lyrics. Their music really makes you want to dance.”
The Boom Booms have just placed second in the Peak Performance winning $75,000 and ranking them as the second-best band in B.C.
The Boom Booms are a six-piece band forged from friendships born in the school yards, soccer fields, cafe patios and eventually bars of East Vancouver.
City of Sparks was formed in early 2011 when Benjamin Bermiller (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) won a contest that Danny Redekop (lead guitar, backup vocals) held at the Quaaout Lodge Resort and Conference Centre earlier this year.
Discovering after only a few jam sessions that something special was happening, the two decided to take a more serious look at making the project a full-time band.
Gigging around the Interior for the past four months, as well as winning the 2011 Revelstoke Music Festival’s Battle of the Bands, City of Sparks added Jesse Vallee, an eclectic drummer who has been playing for approximately 14 years, and Jesse Bernardin, a left-handed bass player who has a knack for picking up rhythms with ease.
With countless classic rock, alternative, and modern rock and folk influences, this band combines the grittiness of old-time rock and roll, with the smooth sounds of today’s rock, folk, and pop artists. Keep your eyes open for City of Sparks as we come to a town near you.
Tickets are $10 at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m. and expectations are the the show will sell out fast, says Cooke.
