The African Children’s Choir has two stops in Abbotsford this month as part of a global tour.
The group performs Sunday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at King Road Mennonite Brethren Church, 32068 King Rd. No tickets are required.
They also perform Friday, May 24 at 7 p.m. at Gateway Christian Reformed Church (2884 Gladys Ave.) as presented by Song, Strings and Steps.
That concert also features the Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir and the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra, with tickets available at King’s Music, the House of James or online at eventbrite.ca.
The African Children’s Choir presents well-loved children’s song, traditional spirituals and gospel favourites.
The group is a non-profit humanitarian and relief organization dedicated to helping Africa’s most vulnerable children today so they can help Africa tomorrow.
Music for Life (MFL) – the parent organization for the choir – works in the African countries of Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa.
During its history, MFL has educated more than 52,000 children and impacted the lives of over 100,000 people through its relief and development programs.
The African Children’s Choir has performed before presidents, heads of state and Queen Elizabeth II for her diamond jubilee.
The choir has also sung alongside artists such as Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, Michael W. Smith, and others.
