The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford hosts the third annual After Dark at The Reach event on Saturday, Sept. 12.
The event includes duo pianists Mel Bowker and Johannes Weber.
Bowker (in photo at left) has been a professional musician for over 55 years, and as a travelling pianist with the Bowker Brothers piano duo, performed in more than 2,500 concerts throughout North America, as well as in Europe, Singapore, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.
This arranger and composer also had one of his commissioned arrangements performed by Ben Heppner live on CBC radio, and served as piano accompanist to Heppner on a four-concert Canadian tour in 2003.
Weber (photo below) was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. In addition to taking music lessons and completing a bachelor of arts in recording arts, he also studied computer science.
The After Dark event also features violinist Calvin Dyck, the past concert master for the Vancouver Island Symphony and the current director of the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra.
This teacher, conductor and adjudicator has played in more than 15 countries; is the producer of Songs, Strings and Steps; and this fall will present Carnival of the Animals with local Abbotsford pianists, plus host the Celtic Tenors.
Proceeds go toward arts and heritage learning programs.
