Port Alberni native Miles Black will open for British Columbia chanteuse Cari Burdett when she performs a timeless, genre-defying, european fusion of opera, folk, jazz and world music at Char’s Landing on May 30.
Burdett cites Edith Piaf, Joni Mitchell, Lhasa De Sela, Nina Simone, Maureen Forrester, the late Mercedes Sosa and Kathleen Ferrier as influences and holds a vocal music degree from Montreal’s McGill University and a Master’s degree from London’s Royal Academy of Music.
Her debut CD, Magnolia, released in March 2015 was produced by Juno Award winner, Joby Baker, and boasts an impressive line-up of acclaimed musicians, including Saga Djangofest award winner Quinn Bachand, Canada’s beloved Miles Black and Juno Award winners Adrian Dolan and Richard Moody.
Burdett and Black play Char’s Landing on Monday, May 30 at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
