“I woke up recently,” says Sahlen, “to a fascinating focus below the Disney surface.” He will present a full range of music from Snow White to Frozen, Pinocchio to the Lion King with his usual stories of life-and-times, cultural and historic significance, family fun and more.

Inventions and developments at Disney works over the decades influenced much of today’s film technique. There were happy accidents that spawned memorable moments – and some vital points in health and science that did the same. For instance, the war against Polio fostered the light, lively ‘Just a Spoonful of Sugar’ Mary Poppins song, its title now a popular saying around the world. “The changing roles of women in society, as represented in Disney movies, can be a study in itself,” Sahlen remarks, “and the same goes for evolving respect for minorities.”

Disney workers tell of letters received, such as from the man spurred on by seeing The Little Mermaid to reconnect with his estranged daughter. There is much to enjoy, learn and appreciate in the unique body of work. For more information, contact arnesahlen@hotmail.com or cell/text 250-540-4242.
