The Community Arts Council presents their annual book sale taking place Friday, May 12 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, May 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Echo Community Centre. Thousands of books, jigsaw puzzles and videos. Pay by cash, debit, Visa and MasterCard.
PLANT SALE
The Mount Klitsa Garden Club is holding its annual community plant sale on Saturday, May 13 at the Rollin Art Centre from 10 a.m. to noon. A great variety of plants will be available: perennials, annuals, vegetables, and more. Raffleprizes donated by various local businesses will also be offered.
ART EXHIBIT
The current art exhibit at the Rollin Art Centre features well known artist Alice Chiko. Her exhibit titled, From Sketches to Flowers, is now running until May 26. Drop by the gallery to view this stunning collection of water colours and sketches.
ARTIST OPEN HOUSE
Invitation to all local artists; please join us at the Rollin Art Centre, outside terrace, for an afternoon to celebrate art. Meet other local artists, share ideas and bring any current artwork you would like to share. No formal speeches, just an afternoon of gathering. SOLSTICE ARTS FESt
The Solstice Arts Festival-Days with the Arts takes place June 16 and 17 and we still have space/tables available if you are an artist who would like to display and sell your artwork on the grounds at the Rollin Art Centre. Table rentals are $60 for this free two day arts festival. Lots of activities are being planned from live music to family art activities in the garden. Tables are limited.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
The Rollin Art Centre invites children aged seven to 12 to participate in our summer art programs; camps run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday beginning from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (for ages 7-9) and 1 -3:30 p.m. (ages 10-12) and features a new theme each week. These summer art programs promise a creative outlet children need and enjoy that integrates art with learning. At each camp the children will fabricate stimulating artwork and foster friendships with peers. Our first camp begins July 4 and is titled “Super Hero’s Unite.” Call today for more info and to register, as space is limited. TEAS ON THE TERRACE
The Rollin Art Centre Teas on the Terrace will once again be back with right teas this summer. Join us in the garden for another wonderful new musical line-up along with Harvest Thyme Fine Foods serving a light lunch/High Tea at two of the eight teas while serving strawberry shortcake for the remaining six teas. Tickets are $17 for (high tea) which includes a light lunch, or $12 for our Low Tea that includes strawberry shortcake. Tickets sell out quickly. Musical Line up: July 6 (low tea)- 14-year-old Morgan Schoen – acoustic pop and alternative artist. July 13 (low tea) -Dennis Olsen – classical guitar, blues, rock and country. July 20 (low tea) Bluegrass Fever – crowd-pleasing bluegrass bands. July 27 (high tea) – Old Time Fiddlers – influenced from traditional Canadian, folk, country, bluegrass, Celtic and old world music.
