Artisan shop raising money for juvenile diabetes research

NANAIMO - Dandelion Heartwork, a non-profit, artisan and vintage shop, is holding its grand opening Saturday (May 4).

Raising money to support juvenile diabetes research is a heartfelt endevour for the owner of an artisan shop in Lantzville.

Grace White, owner of Dandelion Heartwork, decided to create a non-profit artisan and vintage shops when she moved to Vancouver Island. Raising money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is an important cause for her family. Her daughter, Dani, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at five-years-old. For the past 11 years the family has participated in the Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes and has raised more than $20,000.

White decided to try and connect with artisans who were willing to donate a small percentage of their sales to the foundation. Her efforts paid off and she is holding the grand opening for her shop, located at 7017 Leland Rd., on Saturday (May 4) 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The grand opening includes tea and door prizes. White connected with artisans who were willing to donate a small percentage of their sales to the foundation.

The store features work by Alleyboo Furnishings, Barb Esler, Cheesecakes by Mi, Cyanea Blue, Emballizm, Got Ya Covered, Gypsy Lou, Inspired Stitchery, Karma Kreations, Lexuss Vintage, handmade cards by Lorri Vallese, Lumberjack Woodworking, Needled, Old City Soapworks and others.
