A new local event is bringing together artists of a different nature. Fine artists and local gardeners who have mastered their green thumbs have teamed up for Artists in the Gardens, a self guided tour through some of Hope’s nicest green spaces.
Carrie Martindale, president of the Hope Garden Club says it’s the first time her club and the artists have gotten together like this. The tour will be held Sunday, August 14 from noon to 3 p.m.
She’s excited about the inaugural event, because it’s opened up gardens that may have not been seen before. It’s also highlighting artists who have not been a part of the Hope and District Arts Council.
“It’s very, very cool,” she says.
Artists will include world renowned sculptor John Weaver, who has opened his garden for the event as well.
Artists will be working and displaying their art among the many gardens. Those who wish to walk through can start at the Japanese gardens in Memorial Park, where maps to the rest of the gardens will be available.
If there are gardeners or artists who wish to join in the event, there may still be time for that as well, Martindale says.
