Columbia Valley (CV) Arts is proud to present, Meet, Greet & Tweet, an artist and artisan networking day, on March 12 at Pynelogs Cultural Centre.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an admission fee of $10.

Meet, Greet & Tweet is the first event of its kind from CV Arts. The event first came about after 2010’s Tour of the Arts, when a survey was done to see how the tour could improve.

“People would really like an opportunity to meet and greet each other, discuss marketing, what is working for them, pricing, social media, art cards and more, so CV Arts decided to put together this event,” said Tracy Litchfield of CV Arts.

Meet, Greet & Tweet can help artists and artisans learn about marketing strategies from their peers, explore the broader cultural scene of the Columbia Valley and learn about the Tour of the Arts.

The College of the Rockies will also be at the event, presenting classes that they offer that may be of use to guests in attendance, such as photography, file compression, and portfolio-building classes.

There will be a panel of artists there who will be sharing their experiences, and will be open to a question and answer session afterwards.

The event wants to “explore the broader cultural scene of the Columbia Valley” by promoting the incentives of the Columbia Cultural Initiative (CCI). The CCI was formed by those in the Valley who want to expand on the arts within, as the CCI considers it a “hidden asset” has that they want to promote.

The Meet, Greet & Tweet event will also help de-mystify the infamous “jurying” process that some artists and artisans dread.

“There are lots of great artists in the community who don’t participate with the Tour of the Arts because they are afraid of the jurying process,” said Litchfield.

A segment of the event will feature an in-depth look at the jurying process and what is involved with it to help warm fearful artists and artisans to it.

“This is a great opportunity for artists and artisans to meet with their peers and learn from their success and failures, learn a few new things, and learn that the jurying process isn’t as scary as it seems,” said Litchfield.
